SHTA's third AGM on 22 September 2009 started with some words of inspiration for the 28 members who attended the event amidst the beautiful surroundings of the HortPark. They touched on the 'bigger picture' about what the Association is trying to achieve.
Mr Sunny Chin, SHTA President, in his opening address said, "SHTA is ready to make its mission known to the technology innovation community in Singapore... Prosperity and sustainable growth of a nation comes from harnessing the single most important resource a nation ever possesses, i.e. the collective human DREAMS and ENTHUSIASM, driven by the desire to succeed that makes the innovative mind works beyond impossibility"
The Council was grateful that several members have stepped forward that night to help bring the Association’s mission closer to reality and welcomed:
- Mr Vijay Bareja, Director, Nuvista Technologies Pte Ltd
- Mr Ralph Hendrich, General Manager, Koelnmesse Pte Ltd
- Mr Tan Cheng Yian, Director, Dream Catcher Technologies Pte Ltd
- Mr Charles Ban, Director, HG Asia Pte Ltd
There are still four vacant seats on the Council including the position of Vice-President so the search for more enthusiastic and committed members continues...
The President also registered his sincere appreciation to the out going council members for their contributions and time spent with the association during their term. They are Chris Chan of Ultra Industrial Automation Pte Ltd and Ms Elizabeth Chin of Gilead Synergy.
The evening rounded off with a productive networking session that included three talks presented by A*Star and Eco Leadership. Then over light food and refreshments, everyone had a chance to get to know each other better. More interestingly, “innovative minds” were already working as new and current Council Members earnestly discussed new plans and ideas for the next phase of SHTA’s growth.
