Meeting with Singapore Precision Engineering and Tooling Association (SPETA)

SHTA was represented by Mr Sunny Chin, Mr Jens Veltmann and Mr Philip Sim. They met Dr Richard Souw and Mr Koh Seng Chee, President and Director of SPETA respectively on the 18 January.  Dr Souw described how Singapore’s precision industry needs to focus its resources to compete effectively against international players in low cost and low wage countries like China and India.

Also discussed, was how to transform Singapore’s Precision Engineering industry to develop capabilities and infrastructure for the aerospace MRO sector.  Mr Sunny Chin raised the need for both the associations to develop a platform to transform, standardise and upgrade many of the interested companies who are looking at entering the aerospace MRO sector.

Both associations agreed to identify some of the key players who can support such a collaboration and follow up at the coming Executive Networking Lunch organised by SHTA that will be held on 5th February at the Changi Village Hotel.
